May what is meant for me come my way and may what is not, stay far away.

A while back I was driving home from spending late into the evening with family. While turning a curve on a back road in the country, I saw a deer run out of nowhere and it was already in the first lane. It was too late for me to do anything but to keep going. 😰

If you look closely in the picture, you’ll see the hairs of the deer. 🦌 The darn thing ran into the side of the back of my truck. They must have hit their noggin hard because I heard the loud thump. I even turned around at night and prepared to pull the body to the side of the road. But nope, nothing could be found. I guess it ran off with only a headache. 🤷🏻‍♀️

Due to the darkness I checked my truck the next morning and was pleased to not find any dents or scratches, only these hairs. I guess that’s my only proof of the ludicrous situation. The conversations with my family was centered a lot around how mere seconds could have totally changed the outcome. 😔

This reminds me of 2020 in some ways. We were all going on our merry ways when the world changed back in March. Some of us have totaled cars to show for the run-ins, some of us have been left with only proof that it happened yet no real damage. I am on the tail end of two of the largest real estate deals of my careers. Over 💲1️⃣0️⃣ Million Dollars worth of real estate. 🤯

One that my partners and I are buying, the other that Paul and I are selling. So many real estate investors and professionals salivate over these larger deals. Like the house package deals we’ve tackled in the past or the multi-families or developments we have currently. But the reality is, these deals come with hurdles and headaches. They also come with egos and pissing contests but that’s a different story for another day. 🙃

My point is that so much can go wrong. Nothing is a done deal until it is finalized. The check is cashed and the paperwork finalized. So what am I doing during these last few days while my to-do list is longer than the day is? I am working on being at peace. I will work hard. I will work smart. I will work ethically. Yet I cannot outwork Providence. I cannot control those near second misses or hits. 🦌

So I’ll say it’ll again. A prayer of sorts. 🙏🏼

May what is meant for me come my way and may what is not, stay far away.
